What is System-Wide Sales in franchising?

The total gross revenue generated across all franchise units in a system, often cited by franchisors in marketing materials as a measure of scale. System-wide sales figures can be impressive but require context. A high number across 500 locations tells you less than understanding what the average individual unit generates. When evaluating a brand's financial health, unit-level economics from Item 19 matter far more than system-wide totals.
