Operations Manual

What is Operations Manual in franchising?

The franchisee's proprietary operating guide, a detailed document often hundreds of pages long, covering every aspect of how the business is run: staffing, customer service, vendor relationships, marketing, compliance, and brand standards. The operations manual is the franchisor's system made tangible. It is typically provided after the franchise agreement is signed, not before. During validation calls, existing franchisees will give you a candid sense of whether the manual is genuinely useful or a binder that sits on a shelf.
