What is Marketing Fund in franchising?

A mandatory ongoing contribution, typically 1%–3% of gross revenue, paid by franchisees into a shared pool used for national or regional brand advertising. The marketing fund is separate from the royalty. How it is managed and how the spend is reported varies significantly by brand.
